I just had this email from the Solicitors named on the contract. I hope this finally puts this to bed.

Dear Mr R****
Thank you for drawing the false use of our company name to our attention. This is indeed a scam as you suspect. We have nothing to do with employment contracts for the Marriot Hotel.

well done steve, this is the type of research people need to do b4 they send money to anyone , and infact you should never send money to a company or their 'agency' that is 'offering' you employment if they have never met you, good chance its a scam, and if they ask for money and didn't interview you its almost certainly a scam

The trouble is that there are local agencies in Manila or other places in Phils that are probably taking money from unsuspecting job seekers. It does make me angry.

But you are right Joe, anyone can email or call to find out the validity of an offer, better to spend a few pence on a call that half your life savings.
