I just had this email from the Solicitors named on the contract. I hope this finally puts this to bed.

, and infact you should never send money to a company or their 'agency' that is 'offering' you employment if they have never met you, good chance its a scam, and if they ask for money and didn't interview you its almost certainly a scam
