My boy plays keyboards and synth, as well as guitar in his band.
I even dabble myself a bit on the keyboard.
I bought him an Alesis analogue synth last Xmas, and he has it linked to his laptop of course...creating some great sounds too.
Back in the mid 80's I was bass player in a Gothic/Punk band when I was at college. I gave it up for about 10 years ago then bought a keyboard and started Midi sequencing with a Yamaha keyboard but got frustrated with the basic GM/GS/XG soudsets so I bought a Roland Digital Sampling Sytnth and later a Novation Anologue modelling synth so I could record WAV (audio) files and sample/sequence them in Steinberg Cubase. I gave up after my kids were born, but about 6 months ago decided to dust them off and have another crack at it
The Alesis synth your son has should make some great sounds, I love the richness and infinite tweakability of analogue synths
I don't take what I do too seriously, and am more into the sequencing and production side of my music.....on account of my limited playing ability
