He's doing Music Tech at A-level, amongst other things, and can read and write music, which I suppose is useful at times.

Nowt wrong with Goth and Punk.
Had I been from that generation I'm sure I'd have been well into that.

We like music in our (detached !) house...loud as you like, and any genre.
Good for him if he's studying it I hope he manages to find a career in the music biz I can't read music, the beauty of sequencing in midi is that you just put marks on a pattern and play it back, if it sounds crap you move a few marks around until it sounds ok If I play the synths, I cheat too and use the arpegiators and multitude of controls to change the sound and pitch

We love music too, my 8 yr old bought me Guitar Hero for the Playstation about 5 yrs ago, and ever since then he's loved rock/guitar music. His favorites are:
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
Stairway to Heaven - The Zep
One - Metallica
In the end - Linkin Park
He also likes a lot of the epic house/electronic stuff I listen to like Faithless, The Prodigy, banco de Gaia, Future sound of London, pendulum

If I can't teach him anything else, at least he has a great taste in music

We don't need a TV in house and wouldn't miss it if it went, but take away our music
