Certificate of Singleness - Fiancee Visa

Hope someone can advise on this point please, I am told that we need a Certificate Of Singleness to support my Fiancée’s Visa application which we are about to file. There is a reference to it requiring a Red Ribbon has anybody any idea what that means please. My fiancée resides in Ormoc so visits to Manila to the Department Of Foreign Affairs are expensive if she needs to get the Red Ribbon whatever that means , help please ?

My understanding is that you need a CENOMAR which you get from your local NSO.

Not sure what red ribbon is but we did not need it when we applied before.

For all I've HEARD about this so-called "red ribbon" caper ... I've no idea as to its significance! Perhaps someone else can advise.

you can get the red ribbon from the DFA dept of foreign affairs at PASAY CITY original building, you have to get the red ribbon to ensure that the documents you have are certified true and valid...

3 replies have said its not needed and still your unsure?

It seems that the red ribbon is a way to ensure the documents are certified true and valid, as the CENOMAR document you need will be from the NSO (as stated in the requirements from the embassy) why would you need red ribbon also?

Neither did my wife ... when she applied for her Spousal Visa in January 2009.

NO red ribbon needed for fiance visa BUT if you really wanted to get one, inquire to any LBC branches nationwide as they already offer that kind of service and tell them you wanted a red ribbon on your CENOMAR. It should not cost much compared travelling from Ormoc to Manila or CEbu plus it will be deliver right at your door step thru LBC. OR just log on to www.ecensus.com.ph for online application or call the NSO hotline and pay at any metrobank or banco de oro branches nationwide.

I think the Red Ribbon is a red herring. My wife got hung up on that one. ( I think it might be an American requirement ) . What you do need is the CFO sticker and that is where the confusion lay with my wife. She thought she needed to get the Red Ribbon from the CFO, which evidently was not the case.
