All of these mini-gangsta "50 pence" get rich or die trying hood-rats seem to think this country "Owes" them a living and they dont have to struggle and work for it I saw one caucasian absolute fool in Salford shouting lets have a riot at the camera when questioned he said this country has to give us jobs, bloody hell,if he was offered one he would be on permanant invalidity as the shock would probably induce a work-aversion mini-stroke

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

Panic on the streets of London
Panic on the streets of Birmingham
    I wonder to myself
Could life ever be sane again ?
The Leeds side-streets that you slip down
    I wonder to myself
Hopes may rise on the Grasmere
But Honey Pie, you're not safe here
    So you run down
To the safety of the town
But there's Panic on the streets of Carlisle
    Dublin, Dundee, Humberside
    I wonder to myself

    Burn down the disco
    Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music that they constantly play
IT SAYS NOTHING TO ME ABOUT MY LIFE
    Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music they constantly play

On the Leeds side-streets that you slip down
    Provincial towns you jog 'round
Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ

    For that reason...I'm out.

This whole country is simply run on the 'lowest common denominator' principle now, whether it's education, government, policing, the media or the workplace.

Knew one of the lads who got killed in Birmingham by a speeding car last night. Got my vehicles cleaned at his car wash. He always knocked a quid or more off the price. Top bloke.

But that is a far too simplistic comment.

If only policing demos (anywhere in the world) were that obvious !

John, it is bit unfair of you to dismiss all others as niave because of your police background. Niave some may be however I refuse to accept that the approach taken in the 1st three days was wholly appropriate or effective. Sometimes complex situations need breaking down into just what is right and what is wrong. if at the end of that analysis the what is wrong wins out and we accept that situation ..then we deserve everything that happens and we would be better getting out of dodge.

John do not get me wrong, I am not criticising for the sake of it, I am just like a lot of others totally fed up.

With 30 years experience of policing London, I can tell you that too, like others, is a naive thing to say.

Your comment was not even nearly correct in 1961 when I joined the force, long before the silly laws preventing smacking !!

Its not naivity JOhncar, its reality!!!
1961? decades ago...you cant change ''the so-called generations'' now, if you are so proud of your 30 years experience why not help the government resolve this issues??

the youngsters are following the government steps ''to steal''....the only difference is that government steal and make it legal

I bow to your, apparent, superior knowledge of policing !!! But it would seem, it is rather like me telling a brain surgeon how to do his job because I have seen a couple of medical documentaries on TV .

Sars, Just for info. I was second in command of the Tottenham Riot investigation 1985. As a result I delivered presentations to all Met offices of and above the rank of Ch Isp. up to the Assistant Commissioners, to detectives in training school, and officers on instruction courses on policing public order ( well over 1,000 officers) on the lessons we had learnt in our investigation.

John, the common people doesnt want war but the soldiers are being sent out to war
The police are more than happy enough policing the motorways
why not just admit the fact that the soldiers and the police share the same rules ''obey first before you complain''
..am sure with all the list of your achievements , you still follow and obey the rules of your commander in chief a higher and first ranker than you.

..I hope that this chaos and disturbances will be resolve soon...not good for our future generations to follow

normal demo agreed, I wish the press would stop calling these events riots, that suggests they are protesting a cause (whatever that cause may be) . The vast majority are just opportunist criminals. at any other time the police would not stand and watch people taking stuff out of shops right in front of them

Why are they calling the disturbances riots?

Simply because in law that is what they are:

Riot is now defined by s.1 Public Order Act 1986, as follows:

    (1) Where twelve or more persons who are present together use or threaten unlawful violence for a common purpose and the conduct of them (taken together) is such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety, each of the persons using unlawful violence for the common purpose is guilty of riot

perhaps you are correct John, but surely with the benefit of that experience you are well positioned to comment on if you feel completely comfortable with how things were handled.. Personally I believe the isssue lies in how they are constrained by so much potential litigation and even loss of their careers and of course the nature of the very mobile looting does not lend itself to instant response in such a large city.

I do not profess to have a solution so I will bow to your superior knowledge.
