    Jordan Blackshaw scumbag

It seems the family of this riot inciter are going to appeal against his four year sentence (which in effect will only be 2 years)
I hope it's thrown out and I wish upon losing the appeal another year is added.

Sentencing policy must've changed since 1989, then Les ... 'cos - up until that time - inmates generally served two thirds of their sentence ...

... in Blackshaw's case, it would mean he'd serve 32 months - subject to good behaviour - unless [God forbid!] he happened to be granted parole.

Yes, all the handwringers are out in force.

For goodness sake government and courts, just carry out the will of the overwhelming majority for a change !

    Here's my prediction:-

The appeals courts will be busy.
The lawyers will get fat pay-packets
All will be done on legal aid
    The taxpayers are funding everthing
    Nothing much will change

Not a bad prediction but at least he got jailed and I'm sure the sentences being passed have put many off from copycat incidents

I'd like to believe it Les, but I sincerely doubt it.

I hope if there is an appeal it is thrown out. I also hope Big Bubba has his wicked way with Blackshaw.

I agree with Graham the Hand Wringers are crawling out en masse, deluded morons

Aye, you're right enough, Les ... just goes to show how "soft" society's approach to dealing with offenders has become over the intervening years since I was employed in the penal sector of Social Services.

While I think in this episode of public disorder a loud and hard message had to be given. It is a long term worry to me that the "minsters" dictated to the Judges what to do. While many judges said they had considered the events and public opinion that stiff punishments and passing on to crown court for sentceing was warranted. I do worry when judges are swayed in the manner many would condemn if happening abroad.

So yeah i'm glad stiff sentences as a rule but lets be wary of precedents being set which one day may bite us on the nose.
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

I've not seen the outraged Guardian headlines blaming "Ministers" for the usual extremely lenient penalties which are to be found at the Limp Wrist end of the sentencing guideline scales.

The more stiff sentences the better as far as I'm concerned, just a shame we no longer have the birch and rope

Exactly these tree hugging judicial fantasists have been allowed to get away with their mealy mouthed social ideas for too long. Bin the ba$tards and bring in some decent, proper judiciary who have a feel for British ideals - RIP Lord Denning
