Lightbulb New oriental food specialists outlet.

Yesterday afternoon we paid a visit to a new oriental food shop.
It's called Hoo Hing, and it's their brand new Milton Keynes Superstore

    The address is :-

    Hoo Hing
    Unit 1 - 3 Ward Road
    Mount Farm
    Bletchley
    Milton Keynes
    MK1 1 JA

    Tel: 01908 275 888
    www.hoohing.com

They carry all the usual stuff, plus a great choice of fresh fish. Many swimming around in their own tanks, including Tilapia and live lobster.

Must say I was impresssed with the range of products and different rice.

Check out the website, they also take online orders for delivery.
There are many more locations all over UK

As usual we bought loads of stuff we don't need.

    It could well be Dedworth.
Would that be the Park Royal superstore?
They claim to be one of the UK's largest Oriental Supermarkets.
We've been to Park Royal store but mostly to Wing Yip on the Edgware Road at Cricklewood.

This new place at MK is equally as good but only 30mins drive for us.
    Nice.

Tell you what Dedworth, we used to enjoy a day out at Oriental City which was also on the Edgware road at Colindale, well until they knocked it down that is.
    Did you ever go there?
Great Japanese supermarket and super food court with so many different Asian foods. We had some lovely lunches there, cheap too.
Oh, we also had some not so super lunches there too. Funny how you only remember the good times when the opportunity has gone.

Terpe - Yes I guess it is Park Royal much closer to Hanger Lane than Ikea - from memory it was tiny and with a much smaller and more expensive range than Wing Yip.

I've got much the same memories as you about Oriental City - I guess we last went there early 2008. Odd place and like you say sometimes you wished you hadn't bothered to eat there.

Have you ever been to the Wing Yip in Birmingham ? You ought to try the Cosmo restaurant in Coventry, if it's as good as the Croydon one you'll sign up for a season ticket

I did go once to Wing Yip in Brum, it turned out to be nightmare trying to find it. That was the time I finally decided to buy a sat-nav.
I have that Cosmo restaurant in my 'green book' from your previous recommendation and plan to go before the end of this month with my wife and with my daughter who is currently with us on a visit from Pinas.
We are so happy these days.
    I am so poor.

A bit of negative publicity for Cosmo here - Mother charged £3 for taking her 6 week old baby there

A furious mother has revealed she was forced to pay £3 to take her newborn baby into Britain's biggest restaurant.

Natasha Young, 34, explained that her son Kaedon was only six-weeks-old and that she was still breastfeeding him.

But staff at the Cosmo restaurant, in the Valley Leisure Park, Croydon, were adamant they wouldn't take the charge off her bill.

Call me old fashioned but I can't see why someone should be taking a 6 week old baby into a restaurant - it shows precious little consideration for other diners.
