i have 3 kids and the 2 came here in the UK with both pasport..english and Philippine passport.. the eldest(child from before i married to my husband) is my dependent as spouse visa..now if applied ILR..she is my depedent as welll according to what i know..
so when the time that we decide to apply for citizeship after ILR she is my dependent as well.. my question is.. is she eligible to apply for citizenship as well?? ..am bit confuse as on some inf ive read the child need to be at least 18 yrs old to be eligible to apply for citizenship..or is adoption is solution to the doggy situation??
my child dependent is still carrying my surname when i was single and obviously i want to sort as early as possible what are the alternative we could do..as it might be before she turn 18 we might go back to PH.. still if i can apply for citizenship here in the UK i want her as well..same with her 2 siblings..

well you cant apply for citizenship until you have had ILR for one year ( well for most people anyway) so if you have ilr then you would need to apply for ilr for her at the same time. ! so she would have ilr, so i dont understand what your asking

after ILR a year more is citizenship right joe's my question is if the time i will eventually apply citizenship and shes not does it mean that every few years she need to have ILR to stay on the country..

Moy, if you follow the advice of joebloggs all be OK
Both of you will apply for ILR at the same time and on the same form (if she is under 18 at the time)
Moy, Please take a look at the form so you will know what is required.

Once you have ILR and after the qualifying time, you can apply for citizenship for yourself and to REGISTER your daughter as British Citizen.
When your daughter is 18 she can apply for Naturalisation.

The ILR is indefinite leave to remain. It does not have any expiry, it is Indefinite. It does not need to be renewed. Just be sure not to remain outside of UK for more than 2 years.

I brought my stepchildren here when they were 7 and 9 years old (Filipino passports)...now 22 and 24 yrs. Both were out of wedlock and used their mother's maiden name. I didn't adopt them.

They both have British passports now, but I'm not sure whether they waited until 18.

Tomorrow I'm taking my step-daughter back down to university in Nottingham.
