For TB check out this UKBA page

Look for the listing towards the bottom of the page and click on "Do you need to be screened for tuberculosis (TB)?"
The Philippines is not on this listing.

There is a slight chance some over zealous Immigration Officer might ask you to do one depending which airport you land at and the time of day.
But it's not a settlement requirement

it should be on the list, the phils was in the second batch of countries, they just haven't updated the list

but as terpe has said you shouldn't need to worry about it, at worse your wife will get asked for an x-ray to be taken at the airport when she arrives( greater chance at the London airports), more likely she will get a letter weeks after shes been in the Uk, asking her to attend a clinic for one to be taken.

Thing is though joe, UKBA recently completely revamped and updated their whole site.
The links they provide must surely be the latest data , mustn't they?

I know what you mean. But I noticed in June / July that they dont always get it right. I found this out with the English Language test listings. Both VFS and UKBA had the wrong info on their website. I knew this as I also spoke to them both directly and also to all of the English Language test centres. I spent hours and hours on the phone on it trying to establish where my wife should take her test.

there is a second batch that were added, as the phils i think is the 9th but was not on the orginal list for some reason .

thats why some people have been asked for an x-ray to be taken, thou the requirement is as you've posted not mentioned on their website.

It is NOT a requirement of the visa application process.

Good question John. No she didnt.

All advice indicated that it wasnt necessary. Also it isnt specified on the UKBA website. However, as Terpe pointed it out, it doesnt mean that my wife might not be asked for TB certification upon entry to the UK. But my understanding is that if so then she will simply be checked upon entry.

My wife was asked if she had an TB xray when she went through immigration at Heathrow luckily she had one taken at her local clinic in the phils so she gave it to immigration & was cleared to proceed through immigration

from a post i made in Oct 2008

The British Government will be extending the TB testing requirements to those applying for visa entry from a further 6 countries: China, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Philippines, South Africa and Zimbabwe. We will tell you when TB screening is due to start in these countries as soon as we are able to.

The fact remains that TB is still around In the Philippines cases are not all detected or treated properly - with an estimated 75 deaths each day. Here in the UK there are over 9000 cases each year, mostly in people born abroad.
A chest X ray is only helpful to suggest - not prove - TB. A " normal " chest X ray may not show blood clots ( embolism ) or small cancers. No test can prove someone will NOT get TB in the future, although most of us who have had BCG vaccination ( only once is needed ) are not at risk. Those at most risk are drug addicts, alcoholics, and those with other illnesses like HIV/AIDS or poorly controlled diabetes.
It's so important to register with a GP, even if you're feeling well ! Symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, persistent cough and night sweats
suggestive of TB would then lead to chest X ray, further " imaging " tests, a Mantoux skin test, and also sputum samples to examine / culture for the TB bug. If TB is confirmed, treatment needs to be with up to 4 drugs for 6 months. Multidrug resistance is a major worry.
I'm concerned not so much with visa requirements - there's expert advice here on the forum - but to remind members that TB is far from eradicated . It needs to be taken seriously whether or not a certificate " proving " its absence is needed.

    Hi all this is John
Thanks to everyone for your reply. I decided to email the UKBA visa departyment about out little problem and this was there reply below.

    Thank you for the enquiry.

I can inform you that the Philippines is not included in the published list of countries who’s nationals require a TB certificate to come to the UK for more than 6 months.

My wife and I came through UK Immigration in Manchester, together (through the same channel). Interestingly, Mrs Lastlid was not asked about TB screening or anything relating to it.
