    Typhoon damage

As another typhoon smashes it's way across Luzon, I hear from my wife that her sister's house in Marikina is already under water. We have a blackout all day in our house so far and the wind and rain are probably ruining our rice fields.

Anyone else have news of family at back home in Phils, I hope everyone is ok

Thanks for the info Steve. We have been unable to make contact to our family yet.
Both our family and our house in Marikina have suffered significantly already this year.
I can't recall a year quite as bad as 2011 for them.

Sorry to learn of the damage to your sister in laws house Steve, and also your house Terpe. Hopefully there won't be any significant damage to property/land and more importantly no harm to any of your family and loved ones. Likewise, I hope that none of our fellow members experience too many problems.

My wife nipped into Makati today from Dasmarinas, to say goodbye to friends. She is on her way home now. I think Cavite was Signal 1....so not so bad as further north.

... I've just been watching the short video clip (of events in Manila alone) that Rayna shared with us; our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Steve, Terpe and others affected - directly or indirectly - by Typhoon Pedring in Luzon.

Steve and terpe, sorry to hear the news of your and your families houses. I'm now sat in Tacloban and its roasting hot today as it was yesterday, hardly a cloud in the sky!!! It did rain pretty constantly for 3 days before that though due to the typhoon.
    It's been emontional

    Cheers Stu.

Latest I have from home is that Charie's house in her town in Nueva Ecija was flooded, luckily the new part of the house is well above ground level so is ok and the Sari-sari store is fine, our Uncles house in Bongabon is flooded and his rice fields are already ruined. Our house is fine but not sure about our rice yet, fingers crossed. Lots of trees are down. My friend Georg also contacted me last night, sending me photos of the water lapping at his front door.
Apparently, it is still raining hard as showers all over Luzon, but hopefully the strong winds have gone as the typhoon makes it's exit.

This brings back memories of Typhoon Ondoy two years ago, and thankfully it has not been so bad, although still causing havoc. As we enjoy amazingly good weather here right now, I'm sure every member agrees with Arthur. Please keep us posted.
