    747

...from time to time, I glance at my *profile simply for the sake of comparing the difference between the number of times *it has been viewed by others and my total number of posts to date. On this particular occasion, I happened to notice that it had been looked at 8,857 times ... which - when deducted from my present total of 9.604 - left 747. ... and the thought that immediately sprang to mind was, of course, 'Boeing 747'!

? Or is anyone else "assailed" by such weird & wonderful musings?

That's just the point ... I AM out - a lot more than normal, these days - to distract myself from the almost irresistible urge to reach for my pipe whenever I'm typing. Which explains why my post output has dropped recently.

... oh dear ... it's most likely the effects of nicotine deprivation!

Y'see folks ... I haven't smoked for nearly 3 weeks - "not so much as a puff", as Terpe would say. And the reason IS ... I'm waiting to go into hospital for a minor operation (no ... NOT on my brain! ) and have been advised to stop smoking in order to minimise the risks involved with a general anaesthetic!

Thanks, Steve ... I'm still waiting to hear from Perth Royal Infirmary. Hence my sense of frustration! I've quit smoking before - several times - but this has been the MOST difficult, by far!

Arthur, I'm sorry to learn you need to go into hospital. Nobody likes going there.
I hope all goes well and you get home asap feeling like a new man.
BTW, do try to keep up the good work with the no smoking when you get home.

Maybe we're lucky that the difference wasn't 666

... purportedly the 'Mark of the Beast' ... and I've just finished watching 'Planet Dinosaur'!

In theory if you've always started again then you've never actually quit

That's really good. My hubby stopped like 5 days ago still and he's really irritable. My mum-in-law got tired of him being so annoying and offered that she will buy him a packet of fags just to shut him up
