I'm awake (aside from our baby needing feeding) because I am struggling with how to raise funds for a family back in the Philippines, in desperate need.

A family we are close to has a 9 year old son, Klint, who is paraplegic and severely impaired mentally although he can express emotion, including annoyance with his eyes
He has been carried in the arms of his parents since the day he was born. Anyone who has carried even a 1-year old baby for half an hour can imagine what that could be like.

His parents are poor but have been totally devoted to that boy since he was born. It's been very humbling to see their love for him.

They now have a fully abled baby to contend with which means that frequently Klint has to be lain down where ever the parents cn find space in order to meet the baby's needs. Adding to that, the mother is small and can no longer hold Klint for long periods.

He needs a specialist wheelchair to support his body and low him a better quality of life. He gets excited when he sees children playing and being able to hold his head steady and watch them would really make a difference to him.

I'm not asking for money at this tage but would welcome any contributions anyone would like to make. I'll even shave my legs (be nice) etc if sponsored.

What I really need is thoughts on how to raise the money required. We will visit his family in December and would love to present them with the wheelchair which would make such a difference to their lives.
