Fifa president Sepp Blatter does not believe football has a problem with racism on the field, and says any rows between players can be resolved with a handshake.

    He can't be all bad.

    From wikipedia:

'In the early 1970s, Blatter was elected president of the World Society of Friends of Suspenders, an organization which tried to stop women replacing suspender belts with pantyhose'

Maybe he should team up with Max Moseley

Blatter is a dinosaur and needs to go

He should have had the good grace to resign after the World Cup vote rigging scandal appeared. His latest statement defies belief. I'm not saying Suarez or Terry are guilty of racism because I don't know what was allegedly said. However, if a player does insult another player over the colour of his skin...etc, I don't think it's something that can be swept under the carpet with a handshake.

All French like Australians have a deep seated hatred of us English.

Nothing to with the 100 year war and transportation ships

Seems like the big sponsors (most of whom have Olive-coloured skin) are getting a bit hot under the collar now .

'He who pays the piper'... etc.

I did not see his interview but I reckon he may be right on this one. People have always called each other names, even more so when being competitive, its just human nature. When my boys were playing rugby they were often called chinky bs etc, just made them play better as they knew they were getting at their opponents, plus their team mates backed them up.
No permanent harm done, some people are just ignorant. The way of the world.

Just watched the thriller in Manila fight again and in the run up Ali was calling smoking Joe an Uncle Tom, a really bad insult apparently.

Anyway that`s enough from this baldy, four eyed ex fat b

From one baldy to another I too watch that fight and the rumble in the jungle, back to back every few years with the occasional Elvis concert thrown in. This is why our VHS has, or had lasted so long. Like many my era, I was too tight to replace the tapes with the latest format

Back to boxing, I much preferred the fight in Kinshasa...it's strange how some boxers react after a beating. George became a Reverend while Hatton took to drugs and denial...he's still saying he was the better opponent.

Must be the times we live in.

Those were the days, sitting up all night to watch fights, and great fights they were too, and all for free, save the licence fee

I remember my first live late night Ali fight...it was against Jerry quarry...his first fight after getting his licence back.

I was very young then, it was my elder brother by 9 years and dad who got me into it.

It was all good until Chris Eubank got enticed over to sky, that's what ruined it for me although that was a good many years later than that first Ail fight I watched.

We had the best of it

Hey, less of that old man in a beard...according to the mail today the over 60's have the highest divorce rates out of all the other ages.

Apparently some discover they have nothing in common when the children fly the next.

General of the over 50s group Saga said 'this is more proof that life is really changing for the over sixtys and for many it's the start of the next phase of there lives, not the end of their life as people in the past (and some on this forum hahaha) were often led to expect.

Anyway, that's the gist of it.

    Sod bloody Saga.

I now have a particularly beautiful 26 year-old Filipina girlfriend who I shall be visiting in the near future.

So that should tell you whether I'm ready for going out to my final pasture yet.
