Warning - Daylight Shubbery - Rogue Gardeners

Tending to the garden can be a back-breaking chore.

So it’s not surprising that many people, especially as they get older, prefer to pay others to do it.

But an increasing number of householders are being ripped off by cowboy gardeners, who knock on doors promising a green-fingered makeover but leave trees, plants and lawns looking worse than before.

Trading standards officers have reported a surge in cases of what has been dubbed ‘daylight shrubbery’.

    I love this line

Martin Woodley, head of Oxfordshire trading standards, said gangs who previously offered to replace drives have switched to garden services.

This is particularly close to home mate, as my own mother was fleeced by these scumbags over a year ago.

She's 84 now and lives alone.

Although we have police officers in our family, and not far away from her, my mum was too ashamed at having been ripped off in this way to tell any of us about it until well after the event.

She is a bright and generally fit and healthy lady, so if she can be scammed in this way ?

Keep a close eye on your elderly relations people .

You are right Graham 11 years ago my late Dad got fleeced by tarmac pikeys - he was just starting to intermittently get a bit confused and sods law these germs turned up while my Mum was out shopping.

That's my main reason for having a pathological loathing of these vermin.
