Yes Brian, I personally found their charges expensive compared to others I was using and that's why I stated so. I have no experience of WU as I don't use them.
The rates you picked out to quote have since been reduced as you can see in their post #12

Brian, everyone has their own favourite methods, and there are plenty of organisations/banks/remittance companies who will offer to do it for you.

Sometimes cheap is not always cheap.
Service and convenience are also important

The cost is down to both charges and the exchange rates on offer, and often they vary depending on how much you will send.

If you're happy with WorldRemit then I would say stick with them. Their rates are OK, their exchange rates are OK and the service is reliable and convenient.

Don't give yourself more headaches. You have enough to think about

    Good luck

I always use Iremit and their fees are about £6 for upto £700 on their Visa reloading card and money always seems to be credited to card fairly quickly.

Remember* dont just look at the charges also take into consideration the exchange rate.
You need to look at the total recieved fot the total sent and charged. I always used moneygram for the convienience of being able to send from my local post office.

Western Union i think is the most expensive one and the worst exchange rate. I only use it if i have to send money straight away which is not often now, i use world Remit now straight in to bank account, great service in my opinion.

Hi all, just opened an account with WR , sent money to my gf, no problems and not as expensive as WU. I would recommend this company.
    Thanks for the info.

I used them this week..... be aware then with a bank transfer.. there is a 2 day wait - apparently imposed on the receiving agent by ????? Any glitch with the account numbers, and even when its corrected.. the 2 days cycle starts again.

BPI closed my GF account without notice.. so I sent to the wrong account... sent new account details and advised another 2 day wait to transfer the money..WHY.. the agent has the money already????

I know this is an old thread.. and I have most which include Worldremit.
They can be competitive on charges etc,.but There can be problems!
If you do bank to bank transfers.. as I have done this week. I sent on Friday night... and was aware of a two day "process" time before transfer to recipient. And was later told.. delays happen when its out of bank hours in Philippines ! Which apparently includes Saturday and Sunday! Accepting Monday as the new week... and assuming the Philippines agency had the funds available to them from Saturday and therefore opening time Monday..... its Wednesday today.. and still no transfer to the Phils bank. If this is typical then forward planning is needed!!

I don't believe this is at all typical for the majority of remittances.
I would follow up on this and find out what the problem is.

I've been waiting 6 days now for my confirmation number. I'm begining to get fed up waiting. My wife needs the money now but nothing is happening.

We use PNB to send from UK...the receiver does not need any bank account only acceptable ID.

The charges are on per with world remit.

PNB also supply money cards so cash can be received 24hr a day..all at no extra cost to the sender.

Ok, my first experience with World Remit is turning out to not be a good one. I have been waiting 2 weeks for my transfer and nothing has happened. When I checked on the website today it said that the transfer has been cancelled. I've no idea why this happened so I sent them an Email. I will report on what happens next. Has anybody else had similar experiences?
