    Qatar airways baggage allowance

    Hello everyone,

I am flying with Qatar airways this week going home to the Philippines with my husband and 3 yr old child.

We will be landing in Cebu. I am really confused with the checked baggage allowance. The travel agent says 30 kg, Qatar Airways website says 23kg, and when we phoned the office, it's 32 kgs... Which is which????? My child paid an adult fare so he is entitled the same baggage weight as us.

Anybody who experienced flying with Qatar, please let me know as I cannot really start packing before knowing.Thanks...

I flew with Qatar a few years ago and the standard Economy baggage allowance was 23kg per person. So the three of you should be OK with a combined weight of 69kg. TBH, if you are planning on taking any more than that, it will be a serious amount of luggage to carry.

Does your E-ticket or any of your paperwork say what your allowance is? Usually it is mentioned somewhere on the paperwork.

Just a word of warning, my case weighed in at 25kg and the Qatar check in attendant at Heathrow made me take 2kg out of my case and put it in my hand baggage.

Thanks for the reply Englishman 2010. The e-ticket that the agent sent said baggage allowance 30 kg then says contact airlines to confirm. The annoying thing is that Qatar Airway's office and website dont say the same thiing. I've been surfing the net for people's experience but no joy.

I just really want to take as much as I can to give away to my relatives. A bit greedy but I want to use the maximum baggage allowance even if it is a struggle to fit them all in my suitcase. Most of the clothes and things that Im taking are not coming back to the UK.

Thanks for the help. I will be very careful with the weight. I bought a weighing scale already. Do they weigh the hand laggage as well? Does a hand bag count as one? Cheers.....

Check on www.checkmytrip.com it will show you exactly your allowance. Normal allowance for Qatar Airways Economy ticket is 23kg, although some tickets do allow 30kg.

Strictly speaking hand baggage allowances are limited to one bag that should be smaller than a certain size (dimensions will be on the airlines website). Usually hand baggage allowances are 7 - 10 Kg, I can't remember what Qatar's was. However, they told me that they do not weigh a laptop as part of the hand baggage allowance.
The strange thing with hand baggage is that you are limited to one bag at the check in, but as soon as you get airside you can shop to your hearts content in the duty free area and take another 10 carrier bags full of shopping on to the aircraft

I am a gold FF with Qatar and you get 20-23kg by default but some agents have arrangements where you get extra bagage by default... I get an extra 20kg and i only use about 8kg normally so i don't bother to check... My mother who lives in India always books through agents around the Southall area who will give you 30kg (plus 15kg for her silver status).

Speak to the agent and say that QR are only giving you X while you said Y and see what you get thrown in... QR staff are generally flexible leaving from LHR or MAN...
