That's a good find Ded. Can't say I'd ever heard of him but I'll mention it to my brothers who are both competitive amateur cyclists and clock up some serious miles each week

Blimey, that's some going !!

Makes my twice a week 20 mile trip round a local reservoir seem very tame
Even that short distance takes me quite a bit to get used to on certain bodily areas

The previous holder of the (round the world) record wrote a fascinating book about his trip, which I've read.
Can't remember the details of the book now, but if you look him up you should be able to track it down.
He actually slept on the side of roads etc during his ride.
You'll feel truly humbled and astonished at the sheer stamina and guts of the man after reading his account.
