just a little advice from my friends, we booked our flights last feb on my credit card, paid in full and that was that, anyway around september i received a letter saying that the credit card is changing, its a halifax marriott card, the halifax is getting ride of the marriott name, anyway thats that, so the new credit card came today still silver the only differance is not halifax marriott just halifax and the long number has changed, so i rang them to say i have booked my flights with this old card and i have to show them the card when i go to the airport, they said that card is void now, so do i just show it at the airport and i dont have to worry about it or do i panic now, sorry about the full stops (lack of)

I have never been asked to show a credit card I used to book a flight with and I think this is related to the fact that the booking is confirmed with the viewing of my passport - however! Thats no gurantee - I dont think it will be an issue personally.

I think I should add that I flew over 30 times in a 15 month period accross to Singapore/Kuala Lumpur/Johannesberg/Dubai as well as a few cities accross Asia and was never asked..

I've never heard of having to show a CC if you book online you just turn up at the check in with e mail confirmation

If booked directly with the airline, they 'may' ask for the credit card. However, since the payment has already been taken, the card doesn't actually need to be valid.
Bookings through travel agents do not need the credit card, as the agent pays the airline through whatever means and the airline wouldn't have a clue what your card number is anyway.

The Philippines is on a high risk destination, so some airlines do check flights there.

OT:
Today I had to urgently book a ticket for Marvie from Cebu to Manila, and did it via Lastminute.com (as all the other airlines woudn't allow a booking directly within 24 hours of the scheduled flight time), and actually had to the booking 'held' for additional security screening.

I booked directly with Etihad in June by credit card when I was going over to get married. And had to present my credit card at the airport before the flight. It was a right "carryon". I had flights arranged from Douglas (Isle of Man) to Manchester then Etihad onto Manila. I couldnt check in the night before in Douglas because of it and had to wait to check in in Douglas till an hour or so before the flight before they would issue me with boarding pass etc, after presenting my credit card. I particular wanted to check in the night before as I had to go into work the following day and catch the evening flight to Manchester. Neither Etihad or Flybe were very helpful.

However, when booking via an agent, Expedia in my case, with a credit card (when I booked my wifes flight to UK) then no credit card submission was required at the airport.

It seems that some airlines (Etihad is one of them) do ask to see your credit card if you book with them directly with a credit card.

Some good new for you before your holiday. Credit card companies and banks are scrapping foreign exchange fees......


Maybe take the old card with you just in case. They don't do anything with the card, no processing is done as far as I could tell in my case, they just match the detail on it with the booking detail in their system.

there is a new personalize card in barclays where you can put your photo on your credit/debit card. cool isnt it?

I think years ago Alliance & Leicester did this - a good security measure that would deter some greasy Romanian from cloning your card but it never caught on
