Guernsey introduces immigration fees for non-Europeans

    Pera

Guernsey's Home Department has announced new immigration fees for non-European Economic Area nationals wanting to stay in the Bailiwick.

The charges will be for anyone wanting to apply for limited or indefinite permission to remain visas, which will be transferable to the UK.

Rob Prow, chief of the Guernsey Border Agency, said: "The fees help to reduce the charge to the public purse."

Ah, lastlid, I'm sure I've read somewhere about a special IOM additional section of the Life In UK test.
No this is not a wind up. I'm sure I thought is was a wind up when I first heard, but found it to actually be the case.
I may be out of date, but still another IOM oddity for you to research.

Yeah. It probably has a question on the Laxey Wheel and iconic stuff like that.....I hope she doesnt have to speak Manx though....

What seems to be a nice touch here is that one can pick up the phone and speak to an immigration officer directly, which I have done a couple of times and they have been thus far very helpful. It wouldnt surprise me if I simply drove there (25 minutes) and knocked on the door I would be invited in for tea and biscuits....
