As a first step look here:-
    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/si...glish-language

On the right-hand side of the page there is a link for the new approved listing from UKBA for providers of English language courses and tests:-
    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/si...lish-tests.pdf

    The UKBA site states that,
"In the test, you will need to demonstrate a basic command of English (speaking and listening) at level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference Someone assessed at level A1 can understand and use simple, everyday expressions and very basic phrases.
You will not need to demonstrate your reading and writing skills. The minimum standard that you must meet is in speaking and listening at level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference."

Most of the various English tests are quite expensive. In the region of about P7000 - P8500

Looking at right-hand side of the UKBA approved list, under the heading of 'Contact details' you will find the links for the approved providers.
May I suggest that you review the links and find a testing centre that offers an appropriate test at reasonable cost, close to where your wife live. Many of these test centres also arrange review classes for those whose self-confidence needs a boost.

Plenty of people here have been through the process and will help you with any specific questions.

You certainly don't need help from a 3rd party you just book it and take the exam. Simple .... you'll pass

I do not want to start a new thread but can my fiancee take the IELTS exam before we are married or can this exam only be taken after due to documents that are required?

The answer to this has to be yes as many on here take it before they apply for a fiancee visa.

The only thing to watch out for is that the name she takes the exam under has to be the same name as the one used in her visa application.....I think I am correct here.....someone correct me if I am wrong.....

Hi Sexiimulditah! I'm sorry but why do you need to take IELTS? Is that what's required in the Philippines to be able to apply for a UK settlement visa? In my case, I took my English Test in HK, (we were based there) through Pearsons. PTE General is recommended by the UKBA but had to wait till January for that (we didn't want to wait that long as my husband needed to start work by Nov.21 here in IOM). So, I had to take PTE Academic instead which is taken by those people who wants to study in the UK.

There are a number of different 'English tests' indicated on the UKBA approved listing that can be chosen, together with a number of different approved providers (who also have their own approved test centres).
In principle it's a personal choice on which test, which provider and which testing location, although in practice most people make their choices based on a location close to where they live.
