Pet Shop Boys - Most of their stuff was average. Neil Tennant had a personality of an accountant's undertaker.
Westlife - My ex used to love them. I couldn't stand them.
Another band to throw into the mix - U2.....but not for the right reason.
I can't understand why they were so popular. Another overrated band IMO.
I have their Joshua Tree album (some of the tracks sound great played LOUD), but after that....
I think this track off Joshua Tree can compete with virtually any rock band's material though:
(Needs to be LOUD on big speakers).

Is it true, the humor name Mark in the westlife is a Gay??![]()

One of my childhood friends, true, lifelong and an all round great guy also married to a Filipina, recently passed away.
At his funeral he had this music played at maximum volume. Everybody was crying and laughing at the same time.
We were both always big fans and it really was his all time number one song
I share today:-
Led Zeppelin-Stairway to Heaven
Thanks for the Police Peter, and as for 'Stairway to Heaven'...well, what can I say ? The music says it all.![]()
Simply a great song & a great band![]()
AN HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE

AN HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE
Funny you should say that.
I actually was a VIP member at most of them in York, as I knew either the owners, DJ or at the very least the doorman. Big village this place.
Also, I was earning very good money in those days, and was even known to throw it about.![]()
Yes, used to earn a fortune but always spent more.
At that time I was listening to a lot of Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, (my fiancee was half-Jamaican), but also from Phil Collins ('Face Value' album) to Ultravox, Grace Jones ('Nightclubbing' Album of course), to Punk stuff and early Rap, plus whatever Rock was around then. Always had very broad taste in music.

Taken around that time...me in typical flashy Mohair suit and pulling daft face, with my fiancee (sadly died in a road accident a year or two later).

Thanks. Yes she was a wonderful and popular lady (a nurse) and it was tragic. Nearly destroyed me at the time.
Here's another of my favourite tracks. I have Exodus and most other Marley albums.
