Did you know The Beatles went to Philippines.

The Manila concert was the last leg in the fab four's two-week tour of Germany and Japan. On July 3, 1966, The Beatles landed on Philippine soil for the first and last time. This two-night stopover in Manila proved disastrous from arrival to departure. Upon landing, The Beatles were immediately whisked to a pier and put on Marina, a yacht owned by Don Manolo Elizalde, two miles from the port. This arrangement completely cut The Beatles from their associates for at least two hours— the first time it ever happened.

On July 4, The Beatles held two soldout concerts at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium with a combined attendance of 80,000; the evening concert registered 50,000 paying audience, being rivaled only in size by the concert The Beatles gave at Shea Stadium in New York on August 15, 1965. Such record-making statistic though was supplanted by the succeeding events owing to a fiasco that happened earlier in the day.
It's quite a famous story and involving Imelda Marcos

I do now. I have just been reading up on it. They snubbed her, evidently. All interesting stuff.

I'm surprised Right Said Fred haven't got a mention seeing we're talking about best British bands.

I really like the trojan label ,TROJAN EXPLOSIAN
I could of seen John Holt for free a couple of weeks ago. He was performing around the corner from me but I was told about it two hours before the doors opened , so didn't have enough time.

Did see him perform around the Millenium along with Gregory Isaacs and a few others - all in the same concert.

I've always enjoyed listening to The Pogues.

I got 'spotted' by Shane McGovern one night in a pub in Camden Town. For some inexplicable reason he insisted on sitting next to me at our table.
Pretty scary and unpleasant experience at first, but OK once all his friends saw I was just there to see him sing.

What about Sting and the Police, they haven't had a mention yet. I once saw him at Heathrow airport, many years ago. He was waiting for his bag to come off the conveyor....

Thought we are talking about westlife. Sorry. My mrs is 24 and likes westlife who of course are current. Though I believe they are to disband this year.

Presumably you were referring to the Beatles? I just couldnt see you as a Westlife fan, Graham....
