I was 16 for most of '68, and grew 5 inches that year.

For me a memorable year for music, and of course the Vietnam war was very much in the news and keeping the American bases in the Philippines very busy.

And now for something completely different..... Skiffle

The undisputed Skiffle King was Lonnie Donegan and he and his band were the best and by far the biggest toppest UK skiffle band ever in history.

Lonnie Donegan - Jack O' Diamonds

    Lonnie Donegan - Cumberland Gap

Yes, those are the ones I remember my brother and I singing.

As a little kid my favourite funny song, and still makes me laugh today was 'The laughing Policeman' (someone Penrose sang it).

I always thought Skiffle was 'studenty' music, and a bit tame.

Cliff Richards and the Shadows were more to my taste....also Adam Faith, Billy Fury etc.

Not sure if they're Brits....probably not, but I just had to post this....to me one of the best and 'sexiest' ever songs from the great days of Rock and Roll. Still gives me goosebumps now, and I instantly remember Teddy boys and motorbikes.

    Put it on loud !
