“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens. [Ecclesiastes 3:1]”
I was 16 for most of '68, and grew 5 inches that year.
For me a memorable year for music, and of course the Vietnam war was very much in the news and keeping the American bases in the Philippines very busy.
.
Yes the Motown years if im not mistaken.....I do like the motown sound its awsome![]()
AN HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE
i was 14 yrs old and couldnt wait untill i could leave home, wasnt it about the same year we started to go decimal money
And now for something completely different..... Skiffle
The undisputed Skiffle King was Lonnie Donegan and he and his band were the best and by far the biggest toppest UK skiffle band ever in history.
Lonnie Donegan - Jack O' Diamonds
Lonnie Donegan - Cumberland Gap
Yeah i remember listening tio lonnie donnegan in my house when i was a kid......Does your bubblegum lose its flavour on the bed post overnight.......my old mans a dustman ect ect![]()
AN HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE
your showing your age now Terpe
i remember his My Old Man's a Dustman![]()
oh my memory must be getting old, maybe a need another ram or 2
![]()
I always thought Skiffle was 'studenty' music, and a bit tame.
Cliff Richards and the Shadows were more to my taste....also Adam Faith, Billy Fury etc.
Not sure if they're Brits....probably not, but I just had to post this....to me one of the best and 'sexiest' ever songs from the great days of Rock and Roll. Still gives me goosebumps now, and I instantly remember Teddy boys and motorbikes.
Put it on loud !
.
Great track graham
My favourite all time rock n roll singer is eddie cochrane.....so talented yet died so young![]()
