As some of you know, from my previous post like half a decade ago) I was the filipina who lived in the UK for 20 years who didnt want to apply for a british passport. Well finally 2 years ago I did it! I am now a brit! Officially...
Now I am back in the Philippines been here for about 4 months now going 5. There is a family crisis that we are trying to resolve. Whilst being here I thought that hmmm I am home, but it doesnt feel like home anymore. More and more I miss the UK! it is so shocking as I've also thought I hated it there, that life here in the phils is way better.
I miss my british life, i miss going to the cashpoint and having to worry if it is offline! and what is with filipinos and ATM's they take forever! they put their card in pray the rosary, enter their pin say prayer a bit more, enters the amount says another prayer money comes out of the atm at a very slow rate and again they put their card in for what???? I am always stuck in a line trying to get cash out, on average they take at least 5 mins/person! In the uk it takes but 1 minute :((.
and what is with filipinos not forming a line! in the checkouts, banks, drugstore! get in line people!!!! it so annoys me when i patiently wait and somebody comes along and cuts the queue!
when in the cinema, turn off ur moblies and refrain from talking!!!! you are not gonna die if you sit there and watch a movie without having to answer txts and calls.
and for the able filipinos use the escalators! lifts are for the elderly!
the disabled toilets are for disabled people, the mother and baby changing rooms are not for everybodys use, and most of all flush the toilet!
i can go on and on and on, but i feel my highblood pressure rising
to sum this is all: I MISS THE UK, I MISS THE PEOPLE, I MISS QUEING, I MISS THE WEATHER, AND MOST OF ALL I LOVE LIFE THERE! THE SOONER I GET 'HOME' THE BETTER!

...you really used the life in UK.... true ...so many differences but this is the Philippines all about...as the saying goes...we cannot teach a new trick to an old dog....lol

the Philippines is where you were born and bred. And you're right ... it's a question of acceptance - adjusting to ... and fitting in with, the environment - WHEREVER one finds oneself - as Graham mentioned earlier. At the present time, however, I'm receiving ongoing medical surveillance in the wake of my urological operation last November ... and any treatment arising from this seems likely to continue for the rest of my life.
