I think that's true many times.

But.................how about this, when I lived in Japan I truthfully never had any stressful life (apart from the usual stresses of working in a safety critical industry).
I know that a large part of this was not being culturally immersed in certain aspects of being Japanese, but nevertheless those were the happiest times so far.
My wife feels just the same.
