Can anyone tell me if my filipino wife and our son (born in uk) under 2yrs, with a british passport will have any problems going to phily for a holiday...???
Any complications likely? any documents she will need? (apart from his passport and hers) ??
First time she going back in over 2 yrs for a holiday......!!

Hi Terry,
I cant imagine there would be any problems with your son, he has a UK passport therefore is a British citizen. As I see it, as long as your wife has all her visas and leave to remain papers in order there will no problem.
I am sure this will be confirmed by some of our more knowledgeable members.

In principle there are no problems at all.
Your son has a valid British Passport.
As long as your wife has a valid passport then no problems at all.
All plain sailing.

no just wondered if any documents are needed other than passports......

Unless your son or your wife has dual citizenship the standard visa is valid 21 days.
With Balikbayan Privileges it's 1 year.
If needed a visa extension can be arranged for 59 days on arrival at the airport.
she has a filipino passport.... planned on staying there for 25 days.. guess the easiest thing would be to get the boy a filipino passport, then he can stay more than 21days without hassle.....
... interesting question, Terry;... my wife is about to apply for British Citizenship. Once granted, we plan on revisiting the Phils - either later this year, or early next. Thing is, her current (and only passport to date) was issued in the Philippines, and is valid until September 2013. But, of course, she'd like to exchange it for a British one as soon as she's eligible to do so ... which would, presumably, invalidate the remaining time left on the Philippines' passport ... thus rendering us unable to avail ourselves of the Balikbayan privilege mentioned by Terpe.
Terry, still no problems with Balikbayan privileges for your wife.
"A balikbayan privilege entitles its holder to stay in the Philippines for a maximum of one year without visa. Spouses and unmarried children below 18 years of age of Filipino/former Filipino nationals may avail themselves of this privilege if they travel to the Philippines with their Filipino/former Filipino spouses or parent/s. "

My wife does not have a Phils passport, only British passport. But she is a dual citizen having re-aquired her Phils citizenship just after completing her British Citizens ceremony.
When re-acquiring Phils citizenship by Oath Taking at the Embassy you are presented with a naturalisation certificate (complete with the ever important Red Ribbon and Seal) . This certificate can be presented to Phils immigration together with your British Passport to ensure Balikbayan 1 year stamps for you both. Don't need to have phils passport.
My wife will get one next time we visit London. Whenever that will be.

It's been a long time since, but we took our boy to the Phils (UK passport) for 3 months when he was under 2 years of age.
I seem to recall he didn't need any kind of visa if accompanied by his mum...on account of his age...plus balikbayan of course.
Worth checking.
