But Ash Wednesday is quite a big deal in the Philippines where people go to church and get their foreheads marked with ash

I just checked with my other half and she said they do the ash thing on the forehead in schools etc.

. In fact, I have never been "ashed" as such as I was always in school during Ash Wednesday.
