    porridge ,,,,,,, all milk , these days i cook in microwave , half cook leave to stand 1 minute then continue, cover with microproof splash lid, after cooked add nestles evapourated milk, and lots of treacle syrup, nice sweet and creamy, i never use quick cook oats,,

    another favourite is raw oats in a mug add cold milk and lots of suger , use tea spoon to eat, good healthy snack

    I'll go with your method too....and yes, we used to make that snack when we were kids !

    Pretty similar to me except I use honey instead of syrup and add sliced banana. Am tucking into a bowl right now.....yum.

    No added salt or sugar.

    One Scottish guy gruffly told me it has to be water and salt only (and anything else I'd be called a wee poof)
    Incidentally, as Doc Alan might tell you, Scotland tends to be the highest in the country for heart related diseases and no doubt one of the reasons is salt in porridge. The daily recommended maximum of 1 teaspoonful of salt per day can be surpassed in your first meal of the day if you add salt to porridge.

    As Terpe would say, its all about minimising risk. Especially at my age.

    But how can you have fish and chips without salt, I ask.....
