How do you really describe the Philippine experience to one who hasn't been there though ?

The joy and craziness of it all ? The combination of pleasure and pain ?

The exuberance ? The contradictions ?

Example:

... I had been about to use the expression, "a lot of potential that hasn't yet been exploited". But there again, it HAS - in a sense, been "exploited" - by corrupt politicians.
