    Peter,

My son, (born in Phils - now posessing a Britsh passport) has never been here to the UK, when I apply for my wife and my son to come here, do I have to prove that I can support them both or just my wife (as detailed above) ? Of course I can support them both, but because he (my son) has never entered the UK (he is only 3 months old) is there additional paperwork needed to cover that?

No Steve, your son will not need any visa application nor will he need any proof of financial support. Don't forget you will also get child benefit etc
I am soon to post a thread on Public Funds - watch for that.
Steve, your son is a British Citizen and will be treated so, just like any other British Citizen.

Child bebefit, now that poses a question, I am guessing that I can't claim all the time he is not resident in the UK

I will look out for that update Peter, thanks

Ha ha Steve, nice try mate. Your son is living in a non-EU country so no-go for back dated claims. Good try. He he

Sounds like a winner I was trying to get my head around this sort of thing the other day and things have changed over the years. ( IOM is pretty much the same as UK on this - I think - they just disguise it with different names, usually more user friendly names / wording than the UK )

Will your son have a UK and a Philippine passport?

When our son left the Philippines for the first time, with only a UK passport, after we passed through where we paid the departure tax, we were stopped at immigration and had to pay a fee before they would let him leave.

Not sure if this still applies or applies if he has both passports? maybe you could check with the Bureau of Immigartion before you leave.
