, UK CNI is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

    Same with the Philippines Cenomar.

Ok so if for example you got a UK CNI on January 1st then it will be valid until April 1st.
But the UK CNI has to be exchanged for a Filipino one. So if the UK CNI was sent to Philippines to be exchanged on March 1st, does that mean you still have to get married before April the 1st or is it another 3 months from the start of the Filipino CNI?

    No.....

It is valid from the day you apply for it at your registry office. So 3 months minus 21 days

So, it is only valid for 2 months and 9 days - ish

Please re-read my post above. It does run out and is counted from the day you apply in the UK, therefore 3 months minus 21 days. I asked this specifically when I applied for mine.

So, Perks ... you're advised to put off applying for the UK CNI until well~within the three months of leaving to get married abroad - double-checking with your local registry office that IS, indeed, the correct procedure. to the friendly, online filipino/uk community.

You should be here in the Philippines b4 your UK issued CNI expires but you can change the dates if you wanted too but you have to pay again, that's what my hubby did with his.

If you think about it, you apply for your UK CNI at your registry office. On the day you apply, it is processed and posted. From this first day of application your 3 months start. Don't be confused by the date you receive it after the 21 days on display where anyone can dispute it.

It may depend on which country you want to get married in, for some you might be right, but for Phils it is 3 months.

You could be right, Steve ... but [I think,] whenever the Certificate is issued by a British Registry Office, it'll more than likely be the UK authorities that set the time limits.

Ok, I know the 3 months validity is correct but my question is this:

Do you have to get married within that 3 months, or just exchange CNI for local one?

In other words, could you apply for uk CNI, wait almost 3 months, exchange for local CNI, wait for almost another 3 months, get married?

I think to be safe, and what most people do is get married within the 3 month period.

I would support what Steve.r says and plan on getting married within that 3 month period.
    Why? you may ask.
Well simply because it's not always easy to control some events that may be considered 'borderline' in Philippines.

However, you could always ask your fiancee to double check with the appropriate authorities about validity, and (as belt and braces) you also check with the British Embassy in Manila.

    Good luck
