HOW refreshing it is to hear a senior business leader praising British workers and announcing the hiring of many more of them.

AN HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE
I agree.
Anyone here remember the old Buy British campaign from a few years ago.
Can't seem to remember when that was.
It should be mandatory for the public sector to buy British - it was disgraceful of the Govt to give that Thameslink train order to the Germans. I've been watching the BBC programme about London Underground - all their new Tube trains are built in Derby
And the new routemaster bus goes to / gone to a british builder....that right?
London taxi cabs are built in China now.

It is real, not a Monty Python sketch.
I was 17 and remember it well....still sticking to it whenever possible.
First of all we have to manufacture something in britain in order to buy it.
A must watch :-
The great British knicker experiment: Doom-mongers say British workers are too lazy to compete with the Far East. A new Channel 4 venture proves them wrong...

My mistake. I was talking about engineering Dedworth. Something we were brilliant at all those years ago.
Domino effect Andy - knickers = fabric, lace, elastic, thread which all need machines to produce them. Cowboys like Marks & 'Spensive killed off swathes of UK manufacturing years ago by sourcing products from Asian, Turkish and Eastern European sweat shops. I remember being horrified about 15 years ago to find the my hundred quid suit had cost them a fiver from Romania.
I'm backing Britain wasn't that the campaign where the T shirts were made in Portugal.
