    Tiger Beer

Picked up 3 big bottles for a fiver yesterday in Sainsburys. They've been in the fridge till just now, halfway through gushing one down and on checking the label find out its knocked out at Scottish & Newcastle in Edinburgh.

So much for premium imported lager - I'll stick to Heineken & Becks

    We were there 55-58.

Dad was helping to train the new Malayan Navy in Singapore, but we lived in Johor Bahru....different country now. I went to school in Singapore though.

Dad's last sea tour of duty was on the HMS Centaur carrier.

He was RN from 1938 to 1968.

Correct THEN - I've lost a lot of respect for the RN and they bring it all on thmselves, Captain Coward putting his hands up to the Iranians etc and what made my blood boil was one of those Channel 5 progs I think Royal Marines - Afghanistan Mission. It showed them working up training out in Malaya/Sing way on board HMS Ocean which is a present day version of Bulwark. The Marines were a top bunch of blokes but the Navy what a shameful shower of pampered wimps - there was one bit where the RM's went out in a fast boat to pick up the body of a drowned fisherman. The RN Medics on the ship and other hangers on had a risk assesment and bit of pre counselling as to what nightmare scenario was coming up. They were all gloved, masked and safety glassed up as the Marines heaved the body bag on deck. I'm afraid I can't imagine that lot having any involvement in sinking the Bismark etc. The Marines were off for a tour of duty in Afghanistan and these jerks were moaning about the lack of low fat spread for their toast

Yes, dad would have been very disappointed at the way things have turned out, after all the hardship he and his shipmates went through escorting the Russian convoys etc.
