i get dla my claim ends on the 22nd of this month and i have chosen not to claim dla as i think it could affect my wifes visa application
on the back of the visa form should my wife mention about i was getting dla but that is stopping on the 22nd of this month and i will not be getting it after that
i dont need public funds as i do work full time just i worry about this

that is a disability allowance to you not your wife, i would have thought you could still claim it, as long as your wage is enough ?

im no expert just my thoughts, there will be someone here can advise you better

Patrick. The only additional comment we made in that section was say that I was meeting my wife at Amsterdam Airport before flying in to the UK together. Everything else had been said elsewhwere.

By the way, I don't see it so much as selling oneself. More a case of providing evidence to support the validity of the application, demonstrating that one meets all of the requirements. I have to say that I don't know how many would agree with that but that's the way I see it.

Patrick, please do not give up any benefit income to which you are entitled to.
There is absolutely no problem or objection at all in you claiming and receiving any public funds to which you are entitled to in your own right.

It will not have any impact on the visa application.

Personally I would not advise you make any special issue of this as some ECO's may make mistakes about it, even when it is pointed out clearly to them.

But please don't give up your DLA.

....and there is more than enough net income there, with or without the DLA.

i dont think it should effect her visa app, i'm pretty sure you can still claim, but your not allowed to claim 'more' of a benefit because she is living with you.

My husband has been claiming his DLA for so many years and it didn't affect my visa application. It's your benefit not your wife's.

If it's any consolation, Patrick ... I received Pension Credit between the ages of 60 & 65 to top up my income - because I'd retired early. So - when I married MY wife in 2008 - I worried myself sick that, being in receipt of an allowance which COULD be considered every bit as much a 'State Benefit' as DLA, it would have an adverse effect on Myrna's Spousal Visa application.

But ... as it turned out, I had been worrying myself needlessly. And, in the event, her visa was granted less than 41/2 weeks after she applied ... all this at a time when Settlement Visas were taking - on average - 3 months to process.
