If it's any consolation, Patrick ... I received Pension Credit between the ages of 60 & 65 to top up my income - because I'd retired early. So - when I married MY wife in 2008 - I worried myself sick that, being in receipt of an allowance which COULD be considered every bit as much a 'State Benefit' as DLA, it would have an adverse effect on Myrna's Spousal Visa application.
But ... as it turned out, I had been worrying myself needlessly. And, in the event, her visa was granted less than 41/2 weeks after she applied ... all this at a time when Settlement Visas were taking - on average - 3 months to process.
