your wife need the visa to come to france..we already inquire those through the port ! with BRITTANNY FERRIES so in either way if through airline its all the same..same with through train/tunnel or car..etc that is if your wife passport isnt converted to english pass yet..

Would I be correct in saying that even if you just walked on without the "Schenanigans" visa, they would still check your passport upon boarding?

Steve, they'll either refuse to allow Emma to board the ferry/train, or will refuse her entry at Immigration Control on the other side of the Channel.

She'll then be held in "custody" until returned on the next available ferry/train.

Not worth the risk, because the chance of success is virtually nil.

    Moy,
I have a British passport. I didn't realise that English passports were issued.
Anyway I shall apply for a Scottish passport after Independence

Yes, it's happened before. Technically, and with all the correct papers, it should be possible, but.................there's really a lot of buts. Not just with immigration/passport control but also with the carrier(ferry company).

Well, just ask yourself how you will manage the situation if you find yourself and Emma detained due to 'misunderstandings'.
Immigration Officers have rather extensive powers. Much more than regular police.

Unless you have compelling reasons justifying the risk..........YES

Technically and legally you should be able to secure a Schenghen Visa from the appropriate Embassy completely free and within a couple of days.
That is the regulation of the EU directive.
