    British Citizenship

    Good Morning Everyone,

I apply for British citizenship 2 weeks ago and wondering how long will be the waiting time? The website says may take up to 6 mos.

Just please post the number of weeks guys and it will give me a better idea and also please share the story in regards with British passport. Maraming Salamat.

I believe it CAN take up to 6 months ... but that is unusual. Applications that're relatively straightforward are normally processed within 12 weeks on average.

Well ... it's MY understanding you're free to apply for a British Passport immediately on being granted Citizenship.

Me and my husband book a time off from work from last week of May till June. We passed the application in National Checking office and they told us it might take about 6 weeks and another 3 to 6 weeks for passport. I also asked some of my friend for details. Ive been lucky with all the application from fiancee and ILR that only took me 5 weeks. So hopefully another 5 weeks of application.

I hope it all works out well for you.

Me too I'm curious why you are in a rush?

When your application is granted it will include details of how to book (and how to pay) the British Citizenship Ceremony. This ceremony is mandatory and that's where you'll swear your oath and allegiance to Queen Elizabeth. You will then receive your certificate of Naturalisation.

Of course at that time you will technically no longer be a citizen of Philippines and will need to make a nice visit to London so that you can make another Oath taking and allegiance to RP and thus re-acquire your RP citizenship. Another Certificate will be presented to you (complete with seal and red ribbon)

Now you have a opportunity to be the holder of a British Passport and a Philippine passport. Just be careful of timing and make sure that you do hold at least one valid passport at all times.
When you apply for RP citizenship they will cancel your current passport and you will need to apply a new one. But as long as you have a British Passport should be OK

Naturalisation Certificates are not valid travel documents.

Maybe you knew all this anyway, but just for info.

Good luck and enjoy the ceremonies.
Ah, best to brush-up on your singing of the British National Anthem

    Thats true..
And if our Queen needs us in some distant conflict even if only as mere cannon fodder, we shall stand together and sing it proudly as the shrapnel begins to fly..

Terpe.. Once she gets her passport..How long is it before she has to do national service these days?

With all the cutbacks in defence budgets she might miss that opportunity..

Thanks for the help. It's just nice to plan if we were going for a holiday abroad or stay in UK to look for a cheap holiday. I still have my Philippines Passport but everyone knew that traveling abroad with our passport is very difficult because i needed a visa all the time except (South east Asia country). Having a short break in UK is much more expensive compare going somewhere in Morroco or Spain and neighboring country. Hayyyyy thanks again..x

Yes its free i done it before in Manchester and Liverpool but i still paid £12 postage. Its not a lot i know but the time you waste as well, applying for it every time you want to go somewhere. I post here if i had the result on the citizenship. I'm just really curios about the experience of most of the member here and it seems everyone is different.

Good luck to you. Just remember after the citizenship ceremony you will need to apply for British Passport to experience the freedom to travel to so many places visa-free.

Hello there!! I'll be applying for British Citizenship soon..I'll be following you..
I'll not be using the National Checking Service, will it make a difference of the waiting time?
Did you pay £851 and does it include for ceremony fee?

Yes, waiting time is a torture
    Hope all is well...

they claim its slightly quicker if you do use the NCS and also it could reduce your chances of delay or even refusal as they check your is complete.

I had a look at the nearest National Checking Service in my area. It's in Birmingham and it'll take 6 weeks to have an appointment for the service. So, I was thinking to do it on my own
I just have to follow the guide for the application.
I hope I'll get it right as I've been doing all the visa applications on my own and ofcourse with the help in this forum and my friends as well..
The National Checking Service is another money scheming theme!
I really can't wait to be free for all the visa fees

there should be no problem doing it on your own another reason for using NCS is you get to keep your passport and papers as they photocopy them
