The Philippines climbed to its highest-ever position in the FIFA world rankings, improving to No. 148.
The Azkals climbed eight spots after placing at No. 156 in the February edition of the rankings.
The national football team accumulated a total of 182 points and are now ranked ahead of Nepal (149), Indonesia (151) and India (165).
The Azkals’ historical third place finish in last month’s AFC Challenge Cup boosted their place in the FIFA rankings, as the team bested former champions India and Tajikistan before bowing to Turkmenistan in the semi-finals.
They also outlasted Palestine, 4-3, in a thrilling match for the bronze medal.
AFC Challenge Cup champions North Korea are at No. 86, while second-placers Turkmenistan are at No. 142.
Spain remains at the top spot with 1442 points. Germany, Uruguay, Netherlands and Portugal complete the top five.
