When I last needed bank statments fot a visa applacation, they did need a bank stamp on, so will the bank stamp them after you printed them?

I would insist the bank supply them?

    Mick.

oh, another thing is, when your fiance goes to bank and asks for a statement, he can tell them its for visa application. they will be glad to give an original copy. its just a matter of requesting nicely

I see. I had a further complication that prevented me from doing that (long story but it is an Isle of Man thing)

I had a similar problem. I had some originals but hadn't kept some, so had some earlier originals missing. So I had to go down the route of getting suitable replacements. Problem was that in most cases the bank staff thought an online print or a copy issued by them was enough, which of course it isn't. The solution was to simply get the online copies stamped and signed by the bank which they will do if you ask. For me this meant a trip to the bank.....it was a pain in the butt for me as it meant an hour or so round trip to my bank, but it was the solution.

If you can get them them to send you copies that have been previously stamped and signed by them - the obvious solution, then good luck to you but I tried and without success.....

Yes. Stamped by the bank and signed by the clerk.. I think Terpe called this certification as opposed to notarisation. Certifictaion is fine.

Good luck. I found all this out the hard way as I hadn't really joined the forum at this stage. It delayed our application a little at the time but you should be able to get them printed off and stamped and signed quite quickly, if you can't get backdated originals.

yes, since printed online bank statements are not considered an original copy, they should be notarised by a lawyer or at the bank.

the bank in the first place should provide original bank statements. we did not have this concern. my fiance's bank gives him original bank statements regularly.

hope everything goes well with your application

Me too. But I hadnt kept some of the earliest statements (lack of foresight). So I had to add to the originals that I did have.

It delayed ours by a good couple of weeks, with all the messing around. I haven't conveyed the half of it in our case.

You could get the hubby to print them off and take them to his local bank (this was the problem for me but hopefully not for your hubby) and get them stamped or signed......then posted out to you. The alternative is to take the risk but that isn't really a good one to take....

Having said that, if however they are originals then they don't need stamping or signing.

hubby says they refused to stamp it! we been arguing about it already! i told him to get at least a confirmation letter that those statements came from them. WE have statements from his current account but i worry that they might think that these are just print outs bec they have no stamp on it

I have heard of others arguing over bank statements and I think me and my wife did too

Note: 50% of our bank statements that were submitted were originals and therefore didnt need stamping or signing.

There have been one or two people on the forum who haven't submitted any originals whatsoever and been succesful with their application, 100% copies, but.... for example Terpe advises against that as evidently applications have been turned down for that kind of reason and Terpe basically says it's best to try and minimise the risk of ones application being turned down.
