I just cannot believe the sheer ineptitude of a government minister AND a whole government department !

What the hell is going on in this country ?

Forget about any ifs and buts over deadlines - stick the ba$tard in the back of a plane and then when he's in Amman Jail ask his Legal Aid Lawyers what they are going to do about it

... or on the back of a bomb and drop it over the nearest Taliban training camp.

Another classic line from a Tory backbencher and lawyer (brilliant surname )

Mark Reckless, a lawyer and MP for Rochester and Strood, said the Home Office was “institutionally incompetent” and likened the situation to the television comedy Yes, Minister. “The problem essentially is however much officials mess up, they aren’t held to account, and very often they are promoted,” he said.

    The troops are getting restless

yet compare this to your post yesterday dedworth about foreign docs..

The 500 “responsible officers” will have to ensure that doctors working in the health service have the necessary language skills and understand British processes and medicines.

If an unsuitable foreign-born doctor is approved and a patient’s treatment suffers, the senior doctor responsible could be held liable for the mistake. Responsible officers could be banned from practising for a serious breach.

one rule for the gov, one for everyone else
surely this rule should apply to those in the gov ????????

I know what your saying Joe and I'm no lover of this Government but I do get the impression she's got the bit between her teeth when it comes to Qatada. For the first time I really think we are going to see the back of this piece of although it may still take a few months yet.
I don't think the Tories can take to much glory from this as they were the ones who let him in originally but I'd be inclined to let her finish the job off.
