It could well be that they sort priority by travel dates.

Sort of makes sense if you're doing paperwork in an office....see who's in the biggest hurry for a decision.

...But then again, don't they suggest you don't book flights until you have the visa granted ?

Talking about that graham,,,me not yet applying online application but tried to look on it in here http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx ,just wondering why there's an itinerary here where in fact they suggested to not book flights until have the visa granted?can it be possible to have itenerary without buying tickets as I know can't be ,or is there really some flight agency that can provide itinerary without buying it yet...
be positive, everything is gonna be ok

Just the normal illogical and thoughtless way of doing things in the Civil Service I suppose.
When they're sat behind a desk making life-changing for people, why should they worry ? You're merely another name in a folder and it's nearly tea-break.

I used to work for the (govt) Dept of Employment, where people came to claim benefits because they had no job.

You start off with good intentions, but inevitably it becomes an 'us and them' situation in the office.
One of my duties was to decide whether to allow their claim or not, and I was quite dispassionate about denying people money for whatever reason....knowing that this was going to cause problems for them.

oops...I left 'decisions' off the end of 'life-changing'...getting old.

I was only in my twenties when I last worked for the govt.
The thought of pushing bits of paper about for the rest of my life was beyond horrific, so I moved on to more adventurous employment.
