    Just arrived in the philippines

I have recently arrived in the philippines, and i am here on limited time. I am trying to secure an audience with the ambassador mr lillie to register with him my disgust at the new salary threshold proposals, that the british government are trying to introduce. I will then seek british citizenship for my two children. If this absurd law does come into place then i only have to worry about my wifes visa not my children.

Whilst in the philippines a letter arrived at my house from the house of commons telling me that my m.p. For halifax west yorkshire mrs linda riordan is representing my objections to the home secretary regarding the new proposals....
The weather is hot here and my wife and i and my children are enjoying the hospitality of the filippino
people. The pound is slightly up. Wowowee is very funny. Everybody is smiling and kindest regards to all forum members.

I might be totally wrong but I'd suspect registering your objections about salary thresholds would be directed in the wrong channel, the Ambassador is merely a very well rewarded civil servant who has no bearing or input on immigration policy - you stand scant chance of getting an appointment as these type of people prefer to remain faceless bureaucrats except when theres a bit of hospitality going. You should make arrangements to see your MP at her office in Westminster or one of her constituency surgeries - their job is to represent your concerns and raise issues with Ministers. Best of luck with your endeavours - I'd strongly recommend a series of face to face meetings, make a nuisance of yourself its harder to brush you off unlike all the Joes who just writes a letter.

I liked Wowowee am glad it's still on there

Sheldon1 on trying to do something about it, if many more wrote and complained then maybe mp's would take a bit of notice that these proposals could destroy some families.

Dont count on a meeting on Friday. The embassy staff like to push off early for the weekend.
Lillie is a Yorkshireman who hails from Bradford but was brought up in Nottingham.
Try the consul for advice on securing a meet if you get the roundaround

Sorry for misleading you all. Its not wowowee now but something very similar. The contestants are primed before hand now and are not natural like before. They are very emotional to start with. The former british consular sir douglas patterson was in touch today and is willing to help me with my paperwork. The british embassy in manila have requested what kind of assistance i require? After i have emailed them 4 times. So i reckon even longer time now i have to wait before i get my appointment. But this is a learning curb for us all. I will report back tomorrow and keep you all informed. I think the rains are coming i dont mind that. 3 browns out today only!!!. Everybody here in good spirits. Went swimming today with the kids and had a lovely meal. Pound is around 68. Something i hope to get 69 in a few days. Regarding flights i booked a return to bangkok on etihad less than £480 3 months open ticket. And then cebu airways on promo p7000. So maybe members should look at this option in the future especially when travelling very short notice.

... well ... some progress has already been made - as you can see.

Amy30 / Sheldon1 I've read your other thread regarding the sloppy operation that is the Brit Embassy - I guess you weren't able to fix up a meet with the Ambassador ?

Hi everyone. i back in the uk very disappointed. i had to leave the philippines early to get back to work. so i never got to attend my appointment at the embassy in manila, as they changed the date from 14th may to the 15th may i did not receive the email. on a positive note i have filled in all the paperwork my wife will be able to arrange a new appointment. but i will have to sign the paternity document in uk. For my boy they will most likely want a dna test and they only do that at st lukes medical centre in manila. And if the embassy require a dna test then they will arrange whole package. I dont know how i will do that me in uk and my wife in philippines. But that will have to happen one way or another as i cannot go back this year. Thanks for all your help and advice.
