Anybody know what happens with Tier 2 (General) visa applications. Does the person seeking to gain a visa to the UK make the application in their country of origin, similar to Settlement visas? Or does the prospective employer make the application?

it depends on if the person is already in the UK and can switch to tier2.
depends again, they could use an agency to help fill in the app.

I think we are rather fortunate here in that the IOM Immigration are so readily accessible. My bosses PA is looking into this but it is completely new to her. We will get there in the end though.
yes but the person needs a certificate of sponsorship ( a number) from your employer - not so easy these days with the limits on the number of tier 2 visas being issued.
So I gather. Seemingly the job category is on the skills shortage list for the UK and IOM and adverts have already gone out for the role without any takers. One of the things about the IOM is that there are no universities here so Manxies have to go to the UK for their degrees and often dont come back...Hence a bit of a brain drain.
