Marriage date -- just a week prior to fiancee visa expiry

Hello Forum members! I have had my brain defrosted from my two-week weather adjustment period in cold UK --and I think it's time to talk about more serious stuff. We have been looking through my fiance's dates of granted annual leave to decide when is the best time to have our marriage. He had five days of leave in the first week of June and a week of leave on the last week of August. We thought August might be promising since we hope it will be warmer: however, June is too soon, and we haven't had started dealing with the marriage stuff.

We ALMOST agreed to have the wedding (civil) on the 25th of August, BUT my fiancee visa expires on the 9th of September. Do you think there would be enough time from the day of marriage and before my visa expiry to obtain the spouse visa? Or most probably AM I LOST IN TRACK? Will the spouse visa directly be stamped on my passport after the marriage OR, I need to apply and provide further documents like what I did for the fiancee visa application?

Would be glad to hear from you.!

    Jona

Yes, if you get on your toes immediately after the wedding.

You need to apply for the FLR - Further Leave to Remain (see the various threads on this).

As long as you submit the application BEFORE your original visa expires, you'll be fine.
If you're very near the date, I suggest you send by registered post, so will have proof of date of submission

After you got married, you need to apply for Further Leave to Remain or FLR(M). If you want to pursue the marriage on 25 Aug., you need to make sure you have all the documents required for the FLR(M) since it's just a week or 2 (?) before your visa expires.

Go to this site http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/vi...pplying-in-uk/ and read about the requirements and process for applying FLR(M).

Personally I'd get married as soon as possible and save yourselves a lot of worry and stress.

One of my wifes friends arrived here a few weeks ago on a fiancee visa and she has been advised to get the wedding done before June 6th. I am not certain of she will do that. We wait as we are to attend the wedding.

Thank you guys.. I have read some forum threads regarding how to apply for FLR and I find those very helpful.
Now, I know which path should I take, thanks for your kind opinion...
I was actually asked by the immigration officer at Manchester Airport about the exact marriage date BUT I told him, it was not arranged yet, and said PROBABLY JULY OR AUGUST. He did not suggest anything but just nodded.

    Whahey, I like that idea.

Wish I had my gf with me now, but it's looking like it's more likely next year - if possible at all. Government rules! Nuff said.

    Really happy for you though

It's as I said Jlags, I just can't get her here for now, it's this change in government income rules, but I am sure I will eventually, and I am also sure she would be happy to meet you.

    She's from Viga Catanduanes
