I note there have been questions asked on various forums relating to this issue.Applicants who apply for UK settlement visas from Malaysia, have to first complete the online application form.Once submitted an appointment is required to attend the VFS office in Kuala Lumpur,in order to hand in signed printed out visa application form, payment and relevant supporting documents. The office in K.L now only handles the initial processing and the applications are sent to UKBA in Manila for clearance officers to decide the cases.Processing times vary, however 40 days seems to be a good average time.Once clearance officers have processed the application an email is sent to the recipients email address. an un classified automated message quoting 'your visa has been dispatched. This appears to use inappropriate wording and intimates a visa has been dispatched. When checking any updates on the vfs website the next status is generally "visa is in transit". The last update will be "visa Ready for collection".It must be noted that the VFS office are not privvy to any information regarding decisions made by clearance officers in Manila. When collecting passports from the VFS office,it is presented in a sealed courier bag.On opening the package any relevant visas will be in the passport.i hope this clarifies things.
