Blimey, that's even within my budget...if I was living there.

    Love I.O.M
Flew over from Squires Gate to the airfield at Jurby once to watch the TT
I believe Jurby is now a race track
Hope the good weather lasts for the event

    Also a prison.

Actually I am not too sure about the race track. But there is certainly a go kart circuit there, on the old Jurby airfield.

I used to fly from Squires Gate a lot by helicopter to the rigs in Liverpool Bay. But not flown from Blackpool since. I think all commercial flights to the Isle of Man are through Ronaldsway (Castletown) now.

3 accidents overnight Alan. When I got to St Johns this morning the road was closed while they cleared up one of them.

Well of course you had/have a very famous team in TT and world side-car racing living just up the road from you....most successful in history.

I am about 100 yards from the circuit near Ballacraine just now and there is a motorbike accelerating off the corner about every 5 seconds or so - all amateur and casual bikers sampling the tt circuit just now. No speed limit once they are out of residential areas.

They only actually close the "circuit" off to the public when the races are on, when they are preparing the track, when the contestants are practicing and when there is an accident. Outwith that anyone can ride the circuit. I drove it to work this morning and back again from work.

Frightening isn't it....when you consider those are AVERAGE speeds on basically normal roads.

Exactly. There are of course stretches where they can blast it but as you say many of the roads are country A roads and also through villages.

The racing starts in earnest today. Just been out with Mrs Lastlid to see the Olympic torch flame being exchanged by 2 carriers. Passed the Bushy's Beer Tent where two motorbike enthusiasts were getting married!!

Two IOM TT winning bikes from the Lightweight and Ultalightweight category from 2009. There was a motorbike in every other shop window this morning. These were in the mall.
