    Hospital's crackdown on the health tourists

    Patients are having to prove they are entitled to free NHS care when they go to hospital in a crackdown on health tourism.

    Fairly encouraging reading until you reach this sickener:-

    Yet despite the crackdown on health tourists, it has also emerged that some doctors have been threatened with legal action if they do not treat illegal immigrants.

    One surgery in Essex was recently told by human rights lawyers they would be taken to court if they refused to add a group of failed asylum seekers to their books.

    My wife hasn't lived here a year. But she has benefited from visits to the local hospital.

    i think your wife is entitled to it because she is married to a British citizen who is resident in the UK and has a visa that is valid for more than 6 months, while some of these health tourists are on visit visa's which are not really valid for more than 6 months (in one trip) thou there are exceptions

    i missed out your wife has something called 'entry clearance' only given on settlement visa's, differnce btw a visit visa - one is 800gbp and the other about 80gbp, hey where's me pound sign gone ###
