Here's me thinking - in the light of the incumbent Home Secretary's unpopularity among the vast majority of the forum membership - my 'little' ditty might ... just might ... earn me 'a little' more kudos and/or "brownie points" than almost ANY of the 300-odd articles I've contributed up till now. Especially in view of the thought put into it beforehand.
Evidently, I was sadly mistaken.Needless to say, I'm disappointed at the general lack of response to what I thought, in the current circumstances, was (even though I say so myself!) fair comment - conveyed in a humorous style.

... so sorry for my misinterpretation of your post, Iani; I guess I'd just been feeling totally
ed~off at the way decent British people like yourself - and many others besides - are being treated by the Establishment. Although it's more than 3 years since I brought MY wife to the UK, I'm still ultra~sensitive towards the anguish involved for those of you negotiating the many hurdles of the visa process.
